Country: US
Technical: col/1.78:1 TV 18 Episodes
Director: David Lynch

Synopsis:
Twenty-five years on from the events surrounding the death of Laura Palmer, an FBI task force led by former Dale Cooper associate, Gordon Cole, investigates a series of doppelgänger incidents and other paranormal phenomena seeming to emanate from the Black Lodge, Twin Peaks.
Review:
Broadening its cast of characters considerably, and taking place in several states (no pun intended, although...), Lynch and Frost's long anticipated Third Series takes a cultural phenomenon and, while dangling before us the tantalising prospect of a resolution, uses it as a springboard from which to investigate the tensions around the original format and its putative continuity. Thus, incident is piled upon incident, mythology is expanded beyond the Lodge to encompass fresh iconography harking back to Eraserhead; and coordinates, black boxes, seeds and rings proliferate with such alarming regularity that one can scarcely recall the content of last week's episode, far less all the character names and plot lines. Meanwhile each hour concludes at the Roadhouse with an interminable number from the band. Some episodes are funnier, some more horrific, and one (episode 8) simply gives free reign to Lynch's penchant for phantasmagoria. Unquestionably there is a surreal artist at work here, though certain scenes seem wilfully obscure, and much to entertain despite the longueurs; already it seems to have influenced the work of Yorgos Lanthimos (cf. Bugonia).
