Les visiteurs: la révolution (2016)

£0.00

(The Visitors: Bastille Day)

Country: FR/BEL/CZ
Technical: col/2.35:1 110m
Director: Jean-Marie Poiré
Cast: Christian Clavier, Jean Reno, Franck Dubosc, Karin Viard, Silvie Testud, Marie-Anne Chazel

Synopsis:

Godefroy and Jacquouille are caught in a round-up of nobles during the Great Terror, but are rescued by Robespierre's sister who mistakes them for runaway galley slaves. They take refuge in a Paris appartment building together with members of the Montmirail family, pending such time as they can find an 'enchanteresse' to transport them back home.

Review:

Nearly twenty years after the first sequel came this carry-on, which manages to duplicate the voice mannerisms, gags and quid pro quos of its forbears while missing many of the opportunities for linguistic drollery. Production values are at their best, certainly, but the ancient appearance of our time-travelling duo is excused by their gradual 'out of time' decomposition, and then swiftly forgotten.
