Wir Wunderkinder (1958)

£0.00

(Aren't We Wonderful)

Country: GER
Technical: bw 108m
Director: Kurt Hoffmann
Cast: Hansjörg Felmy, Robert Graf, Johanna von Koczian

Synopsis:

A cabaret duo pose as narrators of the tale of two school friends from the twenties to the post-WW2 period. One tries to be honourable and suffers adversity with fortitude but is forever undone by the other, an unprincipled opportunist.

Review:

Supposedly showing how Germany was led astray by the opportunists - or allowed herself to be walked all over, more like - this is a brave attempt at political analysis of the nation's misfortunes but the self-pity gets the better of the light-footed irony.
