Wuthering Heights (1939)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: bw 104m
Director: William Wyler
Cast: Laurence Olivier, Merle Oberon, David Niven, Flora Robson, Geraldine Fitzgerald

Synopsis:

A traveller takes shelter from a storm in a house on the Yorkshire moors, and learns from its keeper of the elemental love and tragic end of her former charges.

Review:

Fairly decent filming of the first half of an unfilmable book, with Wyler imparting intelligent handling and Olivier (who is better as the older Heathcliff) glowering appropriately. Goldwyn provides an atmospheric production, except for the California heather.
