A Yank at Oxford (1938)

£0.00

Country: GB
Technical: bw 105m
Director: Jack Conway
Cast: Robert Taylor, Vivien Leigh, Maureen O'Sullivan, Lionel Barrymore, Edmund Gwenn

Synopsis:

An American athlete gets to study at Oxford and, once he has acclimatised to the mores of that university, distinguishes himself as an oarsman.

Review:

Pleasing comedy, presenting a time capsule of the city and college life as they used to be. It was inevitable that Taylor should not be an academic high flier but instead show the limeys a thing or two on the sporting front; there are delicious cameos from Gwenn and Leigh.
