The Year of the Dragon (1985)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/scope 134m
Director: Michael Cimino
Cast: Mickey Rourke, Joan Chen, John Lone, Ariane

Synopsis:

An NYPD detective is assigned the task of setting Chinatown to rights when young hotheaded triad capos violate the unwritten agreement between Mafia and Chinese fiefdoms within New York City.

Review:

Serpico as Vietnam vet' might be one thumbnail for this portentous comeback movie, full of domestic wranglings and a lone crusade against bureaucracy, with one or two indulgences in spectacular mayhem to remind us it's supposed to be a thriller. Overlong work from a director who should never have final cut.
